En Plein Air Waterfall Painting (Online art lesson #28)

The past two lessons have been analytical and “left brain”.   This week, step back into the rhythmic and intuitive right brain.  Left brain, right brain, cha-cha-cha.  It’s the art dance.

  1. Oh! …I felt like I was “almost” there with you! …great video! I LOVE that you put this on youtube. Come home soon! We miss you!

    Loved the video! Very inspiring…thanks!

  3. Lillian Kennedy says:

    Thanks Karen and Margaret,
    Glad you like the video.
I’ll be back in CO after Labor Day. xo, Lill

  4. Doris and Janet says:

Lily! This was a smash hit in our house. Great production idea; watching the painting progress en plein air with your ‘individualized’ music was just wonderful. So glad you are in Vermont.

    • Lillian Kennedy says:

Thanks, The music fit the video (which is eight times normal speed) – what would I do without Danosongs?

  5. shannon says:

    Hi Lillian,
how great to see you in action and see you again. Love watching the paint pile up. Happy travels. When are you coming to NC?

    • Lillian Kennedy says:

Hi Shannon, Great to hear from you. We won’t know when we will be in NC until a few days before we arrive, but we are planning on arriving on the coast approximately Aug. 16. xo, Lill

  6. Nyla Witmore says:

I hope people will REPLAY this lesson 3-4 times, especially watching how you built up the greens and where you made the green hues change color…sometimes bluish, sometimes more yellowish, sometimes more Viridian-ish. The waterfall got “sneaked” in….and it was amazing to see how realistic it looked with so little strokes…just layers. Ah, that’s the trick!!

P.S. I think that watching your videos just before going out plein-air painting or going on a painting trip would help our minds “flow” better with less agonizing over what is in front of us. That way we wouldn’t agonize over the details so much.

  7. Lillian, another wonderful video. It teaches so much about the essence of Plein Aire. Gestalt impressions paired with careful observations. Good work. Thank you.

    Best, Barbara Maloy
