Bethesda Fountain, NYC (4" x 6" acrylic) + the kit that was used to paint it. Lillian Kennedy

Carrying your painting gear while shopping, having a meeting, visiting museums, or having a dinner date is usually awkward at best, but if you keep it very simple and portable, you can stay out all day and yet be prepared to paint.

This week’s video is in answer to the questions I received about the kit that I used when painting the little acrylic of Bethesda Fountain shown in the photo.   If you are a subscriber, click on the post title to see the video in which I explain how I put the kit together.

If you want to see the painting being created, go to Lesson #17 .

Please share any tips are questions by clicking on the word “comments” at the bottom of the post on the home page – or email me directly.  Your comments are what keep me going.

Great new video. I love to see you online! I painted again today with the Central Park meetup sketch group that you suggested, using the watercolor kit plus white gouache in your earlier lesson. It is very light and portable. Can you send instructions on how I can photograph my work and share it on the blog? Janette

  2. Doris and Janet says:

Hi Lily! Janet and I just watched your video. We’ve been missing you so this was just the thing to start the morning off right. You are getting very good at this video business; great presentation. Love from Vermont

      Hi Doris and Janet,
I’ll be in VT in a few weeks and am looking forward to seeing you then! Please tell anyone who might be interested that I’ll be having a painting and plein air workshop at the end of July.

  3. Laura says:

This was great! I just spent the weekend plein air painting in New Mexico and this setup would have been invaluable. I ended up doing lots of pen & ink drawings (still very valuable time spent) because I got so tired hauling my equipment around. There were three of us acrylic painters among a group of oil painters. No one knew what to do with us and neither did the teacher. I wished I had brought my urban watercolor setup that you showed me. Now I’ll get ready for the next go round. There are workshop opportunities for you here in New Mexico should you ever decide to come and visit.

      Hi Laura,
Plein air painting in acrylics – especially in a dry climate like NM! – can be really tricky. I would LOVE to do a workshop there.

  4. Lillian,
You have a new fan. This is delightful. Your videos are wonderful with seriously useful information. (I’ve watched them all.) I am a fellow plein aire sketcher usually just when I’m on a trip. I love your message of making it a part of your regular life. I’ve never used white gouache before, but I will now. Thank you for your generosity and skill in producing these art lessons.
Thanks to my friend, Nyla, I’m a subscriber and I will recommend this to other artist friends.

      Barbara,
Thank you so much! let me know if there is anything in particular that you would like covered. Lillian
