Why You Should Always Carry a Sketchbook (Online art lesson #60)

Have you ever seen a view that you wanted to draw when you couldn’t actually sit in that location?  Do you set out from home knowing that you don’t have room in your schedule to sit and make art?  Carry your sketchbook anyhow!  You really never know.  The Universe is full of surprises indeed.

There are views along I70 that I’ve always enjoyed.  While returning from giving a workshop last weekend,  the car I was riding in broke down near the Continental Divide.

I finally got to draw that view.  It took the tow truck awhile to arrive; just about enough time to soak in the view.  But only because I had the supplies with me.

Your assignment this week is to carry your sketchbook (it can be a tiny one) everywhere because you never know what’s about to happen.  I’m sure you’ll find time to use it.

Lemonade is very refreshing, and sometimes life serves you the lemons for free.
