Hi Lilly!

...I just shared the link to this weekly art lesson on my facebook fanpage site above. I'm hoping some of my "local fans" will come on out and see you. I'm pretty sure that Bill and I will pop on over for a bit. ...Looking forward to it!

Margaret, Since you can paint on a lot of different food surfaces, this would be a great way to treat someone with food allergies as commercial bakeries don't have ready made cakes that are gluten free, etc. and decorated. Thanks for the good idea.

Nyla, they are framable - at least for awhile. They dry out and are really fun to look at. A shadow box might be a good frame. We were going to make painted bagels when Elaine got back, but I haven't heard from her.

How do I get on your list..... I want a matzah b'day greeting on my birthday too --- it looks so tasty and clever, but I might want to "frame" mine. Love, your pal, Nyla.

What a lovely thing to do for someone who is special to you! ...and you don't even have to bake and frost the cake--how awesome is that!? Especially for someone like me who has so many food intolerances/allergies and can't bake wheat flour cakes in her kitchen anymore. Thank you, Lill!

I think the color harmonies in your Dogwood painting are beautiful! You write so well about observing nature and letting yourself be instinctive to express the whole effect.

I have totally experienced what you are talking about. I will never forget my first day of plein air painting with the Boulder group. I brought a 16 x 20 canvas and wondered why everyone else had 8 x 10's and smaller. Ha! ...now I know! You cannot paint everything you see in an hour and a half or so--at least, not well! I do sooo remember that feeling of wanting to paint it ALL. I really like your last quote "Simplification is actually very complicated." You are "right on" with that one, sistah!
